In 1997, Morgan Freeman offered to pay for his hometown high school in Charleston, Mississippi to have a mixed prom finally after all these years - but was declined. He returned in 2008 and the offer was accepted...but this goes to show you, just because we're in "modern" times...doesn't mean everyone is in that modern mindset.
...every aspect of their high school life is together EXCEPT the prom, and the very thought of putting them together indeed caused controvery and alot of adversity from the parents.
