Adversity is used to see who is strong in this world.
If you let shit get you down - you'll stay there. If you keep pushing yourself long past your limit you'll always reap the rewards of your hard labor and have the respect/admiration of your peers.
Perfect example King Yellow Man
He had mouth/throat cancer. He probably shouldn't be able to talk at all, and with the extent of his surgery - most would be ashamed to even be seen outside much less PERFORM.
He loves his craft, he loves his supporters, and he won't let his struggle stop him.
